The ​26-08-26 Saldanha Bay ADZ – 7th Regulation 34 Audit Report​ presents the findings of the seventh annual Regulation 34 environmental compliance audit for the Saldanha Bay Aquaculture Development Zone (ADZ), undertaken by Doug Jeffery Environmental Consultants to assess compliance with the Environmental Authorisation (EA) and Environmental Management Programme (EMPr). Overall, the audit found the ADZ to be largely compliant, with 91% of audited conditions fully compliant, 6% partially compliant, and 3% non-compliant. The audit concluded that environmental management measures remain effective and that the EMPr continues to adequately mitigate environmental impacts associated with aquaculture operations. Key non-compliances and partial compliances identified related to navigational marking of aquaculture areas, lapses in ECO appointment continuity, environmental awareness training records, decommissioning planning for certain operators, and documentation management. The audit further noted that environmental monitoring programmes, stakeholder engagement structures, waste management practices, beach clean-up initiatives, and aquaculture health monitoring remain in place and generally effective. Recommendations were provided to address the identified shortcomings and further strengthen compliance across the ADZ.
