PURPOSE

The Principal OHS Consultant is responsible for the provision of Health and Safety Agent consulting services to clients.

JOB OUTPUTS

Consulting

  • Provision of project deliverables associated with CHSA registration
  • Outputs per phase as per CBE recommendations (GG No. 1181 20 September 2019) & SACPCMP Scope of Services & Deliverables.
  • Provision of Safety/Health advice and guidance to clients
  • Delivery of Safety/Health/ training and workshops
  • Application for Construction Work Permits
  • Review and approval of CHSM/CHSO reports and audits on CWP projects
  • Conducting research and compiling Safety/Health/ Reports & recommendations

Mentorship

  • Assist with development and or delivery of Safety/Health/ compliance controls including but not limited to audits & inspection tools, business procedures
    • Periodic review of reports and other work outputs of CHSM / O’s
    • Provision of structured mentoring for Can. CHSA & CHSM’s
    • Periodic training / workshops with teammates to increase awareness and knowledge
  • Assisting other team member with technical queries
  • Assist with planning and review of CPD for other consultants.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid SACPCMP registration as Pr. CHSA
  • Expert knowledge, understanding and practical application of OHS related legislation and/or ISO Standards
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills
  • Conflict Management skills
  • 5+ years Consulting experience
  • Highly mobile (frequent national travel) + Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • High level of Project Management experience and expertise within the Health & Safety field
  • In-depth understanding of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations and best practices

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Communication : ability to communicate complex technical information in simple, clear terms
  • Service delivery : ability to deliver on time, within budget and to quality
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of MS Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Etc)
  • Ability to lead teams and effectively delegate
  • Highly developed client and stakeholder focus
  • High levels of independence (little supervision) while having the ability to work with diverse teams
  • Technical expertise : applies and improves extensive or in-depth specialized knowledge, skills, and judgment
