Vacancy: FIREFIGHTERS

PURPOSE

To form part of a wildland fire-fighting team in delivering fire prevention and fire suppression tasks.

JOB OUTPUTS

• Perform fire-fighting duties as part of a team including
  • Observation
  • Mop up
  • Indirect attack
  • Direct attack
• Perform fire prevention tasks:
  • Alien clearing
  • Irrigation set up
  • Fire prevention education
• Operate equipment, tools and machines required in the performance of fire-fighting duties
• Maintain high level of fitness by participating in fitness activities
• Being available for standby duties
• Attending training to ensure correct skill, competence and registrations are achieved

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALITIES

• Available for shift work
• 18 Years or older
• No criminal record
• Preference will be given to suitable applicants residing in the Cape Winelands area.
• High level of fitness and good health
• Able to work under pressure and in stressful situations
• Work well in a team

• Pass the arduous physical test (Provincial Veld Fire Work Group Standards)

• Observation of other arduous standards (as prescribed in the approved Provincial Veld Fire Work Group Standards) including psychiatric standards.
• Alignment to the company’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Substance Use Policy
• Passing Occupational Health Practitioner Assessments
• Please note that applicants will need to pass the following assessments as part of the recruitment process:
