Vacancy: Environmental Technician x (12-month Freelance Contract)

PURPOSE

Our short-term film and events projects require freelance Environmental Technicians to provide environmental compliance on an ad hoc basis. Support and guidance will be provided for this entry level role.

JOB OUTPUTS

  • Advising the client as and when necessary, in line with the South African Environmental Legislation
  • Manage environmental compliance on each project according to scope of services required
  • Assist with writing film and events EMP/MS’s
  • Compile daily, weekly and/or monthly reports for the client as per project requirements
  • Liaise and meet with clients to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Monitoring the Project and Contractors/Service Providers against the MS/EMP/Permit Conditions as and when project requires
  • Attend regular site and project/client meetings
  • Audit event activities as per EMP/MS

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in one or more of the following disciplines: Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences or related qualification
  • Valid Driver’s License and own reliable transport
  • Reside within 40km radius of Cape Town
  • Fluent in English and good report writing skills
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours (generally over weekends and after hours)
  • Experience of driving 4 x 4 vehicles advantageous

  • Communication: ability to communicate complex technical information in simple, clear terms
  • Highly developed client and stakeholder focus: able to deal with a diverse array of clients
  • High levels of independence (little supervision) while having the ability to work with diverse teams
